As a result of the collaboration undertook during 2003 between W2M and IIT for the analysis, specification and development of the procedures to manage wind energy in the Spanish Electricity Market, the kernel of the wind energy bids management system was developed. This kernel consists of an information system, the bidding modules for daily and intra daily markets, and a market bidding strategies simulator that are currently in operation.
The objective of this new collaboration is the design, specification and development of the prototypes to manage W2M clients and contracts, a tool to verify OMEL settlements, and a tool to supervise W2M clients yield and to help them to manage their market guarantees. To do so a relational database model is being developed for an Oracle server, with strong flexibility constraints, since market wind business is a new activity constantly adapting to new types of clients and contracts. To manage this information a module is also being developed, including a set of algorithms for the computation of OMEL and contracts settlements, to automatically manage clients information and to supervise their profitability.
